Who We Are

The Ligonier Christian Church is non-denominational body of believers who seek to be “Christians Only.” We are not affiliated with any denomination or governing body, but instead, are autonomous, self-governing, self-supporting, and self-sustaining (Acts 2; 13:1-4). It is our mission to give glory to God as we operate as His “hands and feet” in this world to make a difference in the lives of others. We proudly claim our roots in the Restoration Movement, a centuries-old tradition of restoring New Testament Christianity in the here and now. We choose to “speak where the Bible speaks, and be silent where it is silent.” We do “Bible things in Bible ways.” We seek not to replicate any particular form of church apart from the ideal established by Christ (Matthew 16:16-18). The circle of our fellowship is ever-widening, and we invite you to join us on this sacred journey!

The Spiritual Leaders of our congregation are called Elders (also called Shepherds and Overseers).

In the Scriptures we understand that the pattern of spiritual leadership to be that a plurality of Men who are qualified to serve (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Acts 21:18; Titus 1:6-9, and who possess the qualities of a Shepherd ( 1 Peter 5:1-4). At the current time we do not have appointed Elders, but instead, are overseen by a gathering of the Men of the Church working in partnership with our Minister, in keeping with Scripture. An effort is currently is underway of study, preparation, prayer and appointment to secure qualified Spiritual Leaders to Shepherd the flock.

The Spiritual Designated Servants of our congregation are called Deacons.

The Deacons of our congregation serve in various capacities based on needs and their own giftedness. Their Scriptural qualifications are found in Acts 6:1-4; 1 Timothy 3:8-13). They do not comprise a “board” or authoritative “body,” but each Servant working in his own area of concentration to the glory of God.
